How governments push forward the security of cryptomarkets

"The first popular cryptomarket (Silk Road) was of course unique, but relatively simple - a single server with no decentralization, no multi-sig or anonymous cryptocurrency support. The goal of the presentation is to show that government financial dictatorship leads to significant improvement of cryptomarket security. Police and government agency raids were the main reason all cryptomarkets had to improve their overall security to survive and keep their business running. A new generation of cryptomarket uses multi-sig to prevent governments from seizing it's users deposits by utilizing integrated webmail PGP clients, I2P anonymization networks in addition to ""the government well-known"" Tor. They are fully decentralized (e.g. Axis Mundi, Bitmarkets, Shadow Markets), and therefore practically impossible to shut down by government agencies.The new anonymous, untraceable cryptocurrencies (e,g, monero, zcash) are ready for cryptomarket adoption with no possibility of revealing transaction history. The weakest point - cryptocurrency exchanges that governments can regulate and shut down can be reinforced by the use of decentralized crypto exchanges (e.g. bitsquare)."

Steemit (description+economy)

Steem is a blockchain-based social media platform where users can earn crypto-currency by posting and voting for articles. Behind this blogging platform there is a whole economic system including internal exchange and in the future also a marketplace. The reward system enables financing contributions even beyond the Steem platform - e.g. other open source projects, or generally any work which is valued by voters. One of the projects enabled by Steem is the AI Squat which is a blend of a community and a startup aimed at the research of Artificial Intelligence.

For thousands of years Ireland lived under a native set of laws and customs, known today as the Brehon Law. During this time, Ireland was ‘stateless’, there was no central authority making laws, issuing decrees or collecting taxes, there were no police force or prisons, and judges did not have the authority to enforce their decisions. But still, at this time, Ireland was seen to be a great centre for advanced learning, the arts, and spirituality, so much so that it earned the title: Insular Sanctorum et Doctorum – the Island of Saints and Scholars; not a bad title for what was in effect ‘anarchy’. In this discussion Kevin will be making the case that principles of anarchy have been tried, there are historical examples that worked, and there are valuable lessons for today's world to be learned from the past.

What does Big Brother see, while he is watching? Trying to understand surveillance through images

Over the course of three years, I was able to research at the archive left by East Germany’s notorious secret police Stasi in search of the visual memories of Big Brother. What I did find gives us an unfiltered glimpse at a highly advanced security system from the inside. Even though this material is 30 years old, it still reveals the state of mind that drives the people who govern these organizations and who decide who might be seen as an enemy of the state.
